Interferential stimulator device is used to treat symptomatic relief and management of chronic pain and/or as adjunctive treatment in the management of post-surgical and post-traumatic acute pain. It is a low frequency treatment that uses two medium frequency currents which "interfere" with each other to produce a beat frequency that the body recognizes as a low frequency energy source. The range is usually 1-250 Hz. The body produces frequency currents between 1-256 Hz. The major use of Interferential Therapy is to accelerate the inflammatory or healing rate. So almost any condition can be treated where inflammation is a problem. This is a dual channel unit, which allows you to use up to four electrodes at a time (two electrodes per channel). $169
All of our Stimulators are shipped complete with: Instruction manual, lead wires, four reusable electrodes, adaptor, battery and a carrying case. Difference Between TENS & Interferential:
TENS delivers a low frequency current which causes an accumulation of energy in the skin. To be effective, TENS may therefore rely more heavily on neural channels than interferential types of currents do in order to be clinically effective in subcutaneous layers of tissue. Due to its medium frequency mode of delivery, interferential currents penetrate the skin easily and may have a more direct cellular effect below the skin. Interferential current may also appear less noxious to the patient since very little energy is accumulated in the skin.
